Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday applauded Khrievitso Kense, the 16-year-old leg spinner from the state to be shortlisted for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Kense is the youngest player to be shortlisted for the IPL.

The chief minister hoped that the promising player is selected by a franchisee and is able to deliver his best in the Twenty20 cricket league.

“My best wishes to Khrievitso Kense from Nagaland, the youngest Indian player to be shortlisted for #IPL2021Auction. I hope he gets picked by a great franchisee that will perform excellently in the @IPL 2021,” Neiphiu Rio tweeted.

IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals had recently invited the young player to undergo bowling trials at the Royal Academy in Nagpur ahead of the IPL’s 14th edition.

He also underwent trials for the Mumbai Indians, another IPL franchise at the Reliance Cricket Ground in Mumbai.

The budding cricketer drew attention after taking 7 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 5.47 during four matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament held in Chennai in January this year.
