The Congress in Assam kick-started their much talked about ‘Axom Basaon Ahok’ Yatra on Friday.

The ‘Axom Basaon Ahok’ Yatra of the Congress party started at Batadrava Than in Bardowa in Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday.

Top Congress leaders from Assam – Lok Sabha MPs Gaurav Gogoi and Pradyut Bordoloi, APCC President Ripun Bora, former Assam Minister Rakibul Hussain are part of the first leg of the ‘Axom Basaon Ahok’ Yatra.

The Assam Congress leaders were accompanied by All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary cum Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh Alwar.

Jitendra Singh Alwar said, “The people of Assam are rooting for change, recalling the days of prosperity under Congress Government. My interactions with locals of Nagaon were absolutely encouraging and purposeful.”

Former Assam Minister Rakibul Hussain also spoke in similar lines.

Rakibul Hussain said, “From my meaningful interactions with the locals of Nagaon, Assam is crying for change. People are desperate for change and want back the days of progressive development under Congress’ governance. It’s time to reclaim the state’s peace and prosperity!”

Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi said, “Today all of us are united in saving Assam from corruption, cronyism and majoritarianism. Started the ‘Axom Basaon Ahok’ yatra from Batadrava.

Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi said, “Axom Basaon Ahok is a movement to undo the wrongs done to Assam and today’s interactions with people of Telia Gaon (Barhampur) and Brahmachari Satra (Samaguri) proved beyond doubt that people of Assam are rallying to Save Assam!”
