Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday called on Union road transport and highways minister, Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.
Sangma who is currently on a visit to the national capital met the Union minister and informed him of the progress being made in various road projects underway in Meghalaya.
The chief minister also sought support from the Centre to improve road connectivity to connect far-flung areas of Meghalaya.
“Had the opportunity to call on Hon’ble Union Minister for @MORTHIndia, Sh. @nitin_gadkari Ji and apprised him of the progress of various road projects in the State. Have sought further support from the Ministry to improve road connectivity in #Meghalaya,” Conrad Sangma tweeted.

The Meghalaya government has accorded importance to the development of transport in the state under its Restart Meghalaya Mission.
The Restart Meghalaya Mission was launched in August last year to revive the ailing economy of the state, which had been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The state government had allotted Rs. 850 crores to develop 13 major roads covering a length of about 350 Km under the mission.
