Implementation of Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) would take more time.
This was informed by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio said that no deadline should be set on the implementation of RIIN.
As per a notification issued by the Nagaland Government, dated June 29, 2019, RIIN will help identify the citizens who settled in Nagaland prior to December 1, 1963.
Notably, Nagaland attained statehood on December 1, 1963.
The Nagaland Government is under pressure from various civil society organisations in the State for implementation of RIIN.
“Nagaland Government is working on the matter,” said CM Neiphiu Rio.

Following the implementation of RIIN, the indigenous inhabitant certificates would be issue to only those whose names figure in the RIIN.
“The RIIN Committee has already submitted its report and the Cabinet has also approved it, but the implementation is taking time,” CM Neiphiu Rio said.
