A group of youths from Guwahati tried their hands in immersive theatre to highlight core issues among the audience.
An immersive theatre is a form of theatre that also allows the audience to participate in it.
The theatre group led by Raina Bhattacharya recently performed the play “Democracy, Privacy, Security” virtually giving the audience an equal opportunity to participate.

These youngsters staged the play at the BOREDOM REBELLION, the 2021 iteration of the annual youth symposium of Science Gallery.
The play “Democracy, Privacy, Security” reflected the inequalities prevalent in society today.
“The play sheds light on how participatory measures especially for a functional democracy are essential for accountability, transparency and equitable distribution of power. In a participatory democracy every voice should be heard,” said Raina Bhattacharya, who directed the play.
“Being part of the theatre group was a very positive experience. During the rehearsal sessions our director incorporated various sessions on profiling, obedience to authority and also improved theatre to see how these concepts transformed theatrical experience,” said Radhika Goswami one of the actors.
“The role of art is to have a socio-political impact on the society and as a piece of immersive theatre, our palay aimed to achieve just that,” Radhika said.
