Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona on Monday reviewed the progress and status of the construction of a 150-meter-long permanent bridge over Yargyap Chu River.
The strategic bridge once completed would connect the Singbir village in Mechukha circle with the rest of Shi-Yomi district.
Taking serious note of the inordinate delay in the construction process, Sona directed the department concerned and work executing agency to expedite the work and ensure its timely completion.
The foundation stone for the bridge was laid by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu in November 2017.
“There should not be any more delay in the construction of such an important project, especially not due to the lack of coordination,” the Speaker said urging the PWD Chief Engineer to send his men to inspect the site and do the needful.
Earlier, the PWD Executive Engineer of Mechukha division briefed the Speaker on the challenges and issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic that led to delay in the construction works.
The Executive Engineer, however, informed that work has now resumed and they are trying to complete the project at the earliest time possible.
