Assam Rifles troops in a joint operation with the excise & narcotics department in Mizoram nabbed three drug peddlers at Bethlehem Veng in Aizawl.

During the operation carried out on Saturday, the joint team was able to recover heroin worth approximately Rs 75.6 lakh.

“#AssamRifles in a joint operation with Excise & Narcotics Department in Mizoram apprehended three drug peddlers from general area Bethlehem Veng in Aizawl on 30 Jan recovering Heroin worth approx. Rs 75.6 Lakhs,” Assam Rifles said in a tweet on Monday morning.

Recently, the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles recovered 74 grams of heroin from Zote in Mizoram.

A joint team of Assam Rifles personnel and officials of the Champhai customs department conducted a raid during which the consignment of heroin was recovered.

The customs department also detained a person, who was identified as a foreign national from Bukphir in Myanmar.

It was estimated that the seized heroin would cost Rs 29,60,000 in the market.

The Assam Rifles has been conducting similar joint operations in different parts of Mizoram to root out the drug menace.
