Troopers of Assam Rifles seized heroin worth over Rs 42 lakh, foreign cigarettes worth Rs 12 lakh 50 thousand and beer worth Rs 36 thousand from 2 smugglers in Mizoram’s Zemabawk Aizawl on Wednesday morning.

The heroin seized weighs 107 grams.

On the other hand, 5000 packets of foreign cigarettes and 72 cans of beer were also seized by the Assam Rifles troopers.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Excise and Narcostics department, Aizawl.

2 smugglers have also been apprehended by the Assam Rifles during the operation.

“Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border,” the Assam Rifles stated in a statement.
