India and China have agreed to push for an early disengagement of the frontline troops during the 9th round of Corps Commander Level Meeting.

The 9th round of India-China Corps Commander Level Meeting was held on Chinese side of Moldo-Chushul border meeting point along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh sector on Sunday.

“Two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on disengagement along LAC in Western Sector of India-China border areas,” the Army informed in a statement on Monday.

Both India and China have also agreed to continue their “effective efforts in ensuring restraint of the frontline troops, stabilize and control the situation along the LAC”.

“They (India & China) also agreed to follow the important consensus of their state leaders, maintain the good momentum of dialogue and negotiation,” the Army informed.

Meanwhile, both the sides have also resolved to hold the 10th round of Corps Commander Level Meeting at an “early date to jointly advance de-escalation”.

“Two sides agreed that this round of meeting was positive, practical and constructive, which further enhanced mutual trust and understanding,” the Army statement read.

Earlier in the day on Monday, the Army confirmed that a ‘minor face-off’ broke out between the troopers of the Indian Army and the soldiers of the China’s PLA on January 20 at Naku La in Sikkim.

Meanwhile, president Ram Nath Kovind in his address to the nation on the eve of 72nd Republic Day said that the Indian forces are ready to thwart any attempt to undermine the nation’s integrity.

“Though we reiterate our commitment to peace, our defence forces – Army, Air Force and Navy – are adequately mobilised in a well-coordinated move to thwart any attempt to undermine our security. Our national interest will be protected at all costs,” President Ram Nath Kovind said.
