MLAs of the CPI-M in Tripura, led by former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday met Governor Ramesh Bais and raised the issue of attacks on leaders and workers of the opposition parties in the State.
Speaking to the media after his meeting with the Governor, Manik Sarkar termed the regime of the present BJP Government in the Tripura as ‘Jungle Raj’.
The Left Front MLAs apprised the Governor on the current law and order situation in the State and sought his intervention.
“Tripura has been handed over to miscreants,” said Manik Sarkar.
Launching an all-out attack on the BJP-led Government in the State, Manik Sarkar said, “Opposition parties are not being allowed to function independently. Even the offices of various opposition parties have been closed due to the terror of the ruling party. State president of the Congress party was attacked yesterday. The government is functioning with a fascist attitude.”

He further alleged that around 17 to 18 opposition activists were killed since the BJP came to power.
“Hundreds of opposition activists have been attacked. Unclaimed bodies are being recovered later in different parts of the state almost every day. Police have failed to take any action,” alleged Manik Sarkar.
