Thousands of teachers in Meghalaya have sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention into the alleged delay of payment of their salaries.
The teachers, who are employed under the Centre’s Samagra Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) are to receive payment of at least 5 months salaries.
These teachers have now sent postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention into the matter.
The postcard campaign has been launched by the teachers in protest against the alleged delay by the Centre in release of their pending salaries.

Speaking on the matter Meghalaya SSA School Association president Aristotle C Rymbai informed that over 12 thousand teachers were recruited by the Centre under SSA for 2,907 lower primary and 2,232 upper primary schools across the State.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Education Minister lakhmen Rymbui expressed hope that the Centre would release the pending salaries of the SSA teachers at the earliest.
“We have contacted the Centre in the matter and hope that the pending salaries of the teachers would be released before the Christmas,” said Meghalaya Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui.
