Assam’s four-year-old
Four-year-old Ayan Gogoi Gohain

Ayan Gogoi Gohain, the son of Assam, has brought laurels to his motherland by writing a book at the tender age of four. His book, Honeycomb is a collection of 30 insightful anecdotes alongside thirty beautifully illustrated images by the child prodigy.

The book is soon set to be launched by New Delhi based Authorspress Publications.

Quick-witted, self-serving and sensitive, Ayan started painting at the age of one and began composing stories at the age of three. At four years, he could clearly express himself in Assamese and English.

The amazing journey of ‘Honeycomb’ started when he began to address his insatiable love for words, colours, sounds, tastes and sights with his keen observation and the wonders of expression.

The book has been well reviewed by veterans of the literary filed such as Dilip Mohapatra who is a decorated Navy Veteran from Pune and an author and poet of international repute.

“This Honeycomb is not just an intricate configuration of hexagon dripping of the sweetest of the nectar but much more: coming from a tiny tot, it’s very alive, pulsating with creativity, colours and passion to bewitch you and make you wonder,” says Mohapatra.

The Oxford alumnus, poet and novelist par excellence, Michael Forrester from Somerset, U.K. considers the book as “A delightful, succinct and incisive collection of illustrated anecdotes by so young an author. Four years old, Ayan’s Honeycomb is a collection that every reader, young or old, will treasure and return to time and again.”

“Ayan’s writing and his pictures show the exuberance of his youth. His elegant writing style and profound insights show him to be wise beyond his years while still retaining the innocence of childhood,” he says.

“This is a book that adults and children will enjoy,” says Joan Leotta, writer and story performer from Calabash, North Carolina.

Neelam Saxena Chandra, GM at Pune Metro and author and poet with more than 700 published stories/poems congratulates the ‘youngest author in India’.

She remarks, “Ayan is a very promising writer whose imagination can be seen in the lovely anecdotes that he has inked at such a young age of four years. The illustrations are a treat to the eye.”

A student of KG 1, Ayan has a passion for yoga, watching cartoons, photography and travelling, playing badminton and football, baking, gardening and playing with his puppy, Oreo.

Ayan is the grandson of Purna Kanta Gogoi, former Director, RESTI, North Lakhimpur, and Janoki Saikia Gogoi, government official. He is the only son of Jitu Gohain, DM, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. and Sangeeta Gogoi, yoga therapist and Director, Meraki Yoga Retreat Center.
