In a blow to Karbi militant outfit People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK), Assam police on Thursday arrested the general secretary of the outfit from a hideout in the Bokajan area.
Karbi Anglong police nabbed the self-styled general secretary of the outfit, Nongme Tungjang alias Sanjib Phangcho from a hideout in the jungle in the Thekerajan area under Bakalia police station.
Police said based on intelligence input, the Karbi Anglong police launched an operation in the area.
One 7.65 pistol with four live ammunition, two mobile phone, few extortion letters and various incriminating items have been recovered from the possession of Nongme.
Earlier in June this year, four PDCK cadres were arrested in Karbi Anglong district.
Police also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, and cash worth Rs 3.01 lakh from their possession.
The Karbi militant group PDCK is active in Karbi Anglong district and some parts of Dima Hasao, Nagaon, and Hojai districts in Assam.
