Yesteryears singer-composer Rajani Bordoloi died at his  No 2 Tarajan Sonarigaon residence in Jorhat.

Bordoloi passed away due to old-age ailments.

He was 83 years old at the time of his demise.

A state artiste (shilpi) pensioner, Bordoloi was a member of the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA), the oldest association of theatre artistes in India founded in 1943.

In pre-independence India, IPTA promoted themes related to the Indian freedom struggle.

The goal of the association was to bring cultural awakening among the people of India.

In the 60s, Tagar and Rajani were a famous pair of singers.

Bordoloi was associated with various associations like Jana Sanskritik Parishad and Jorhat Sangeet Shilpi Sanstha.

He leaves behind his wife, daughter and a host of relatives.
