The Assam Science Society (ASS) will conduct a state-level online essay competition and a cartoon contest for students to promote science in everyday life amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The online competitions will be organized as part of ASS’s 53rd biennial session to be held on January 23-24 next year in Bihpuria in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.

The session would be held at the Bihpuria Collegiate HS School both virtually and in-person.

“Students studying in the science stream from the higher secondary level to the postgraduate research scholar’s level can participate in the online essay competition”, said a member of ASS.

The competitions will be conducted in both Assamese and English languages.

The theme for the essay for students of the undergraduate level till the postgraduate level is “The need for conservation of one of the important natural resources of your home district”.

Similarly, the topic for students of the higher secondary level is “Role of students in science popularization”.

The cartoon competition is open for students from the primary level to the tenth standard.

Total prize money of rupees 16,500 will be distributed among the winners.

ASS will commemorate eminent Assamese physicist, Mahendra Nath Bora in the souvenir to be published for the biennial session.
