The Assam government on Monday tied up with Israel for cooperation in the field of agriculture.

The Ambassador of Israel to India, Dr Ron Malka, met Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday and had a discussion on various aspects of cooperation between Israel and Assam, focussing on the agriculture sector.

“Today is a historic day for Assam, as we tie up with Israel for cooperation in the field of agriculture,” chief minister Sonowal tweeted after the meeting at his official residence in Guwahati.

Dr Malka is in Guwahati to lay the foundation stone of Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetables Protected Cultivation.

Sonowal tweeted, “Met HE @DrRonMalka, Ambassador of Israel to India, in Guwahati before laying the foundation stone of Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetables Protected Cultivation.”

The Assam chief minister expressed thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for boosting the India-Israel relations.

“I express my sincere gratitude to PM Shri @narendramodi Ji for taking Indo-Israel relations to new heights, which wouldn’t have been possible without his visionary leadership,” Sonowal said in another tweet.

Chief minister Sonowal also had a meeting with a delegation from Israel, led by Dr Ron Malka.
