The doctors of Assam have been doing their duty relentlessly after COVID-19 pandemic hit the state.
Some of the doctors are giving their hundred per cent to save one life and several doctors have even succumbed to COVID-19 too while carrying out their duties.
But it has come to light that some doctors are working without salary for days during this crisis time.
Pratyush Mahanta, a doctor of Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh, in a tweet said that he had not been paid his salary for 89 days.
Posting a picture of the notice to vacate hostels, the doctor wrote, “Days without salary= 89. Now a notice to vacate our hostels”.
The doctor in his tweet also tagged the state health minister and several other functionaries of the health department.
Recently, the government gave its nod to re-start the classes and the passed out post-graduate doctors who were appointed by the government to serve the COVID-19 patients, have been directed to arrange their accommodation outside the AMCH hostel with the first week of November so that the 1st year Post-graduate students and other returning undergraduate students can be accommodated.
Some of the doctors were overburden due to the duty at COVID-19 wards and to vacate the hostels within November has dissatisfied them.
“We have been doing our duty regularly and some of us are doing duty without salary and now the government told us to vacate the hostels within November 1st week. We are really disappointed after the order,” said a PG doctor at AMCH.
Some of the twitteritis criticised the government and asked the government to look into the matter.
