Meghalaya Cabinet will meet on Monday evening to discuss and take a call on the affairs of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), besides other matters.
The five-year tenure of the GHADC will expire on October 18, after the new House was formed on October 19, 2015.

As fresh elections not likely to be held soon, the Cabinet will decide either to extend the tenure of the council by few months or recommend to Governor Satya Pal Malik to take over council by imposing administrator’s rule till election is conducted.
The Cabinet meeting, to be presided over by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma, will be held in the Committee Room 1 Main Secretariat at 4.30 pm.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), an ally of the NPP-led MDA government, has decided to urge the Governor to take over the GHADC if elections cannot be held within this month to elect new members of the council.
The GHADC has 29 elected members of district council (MDCs), and one member is nominated by the Governor.
