The additional director general of NCC, North Eastern Region, Major General Ananta Bhuyan met the chief secretary of Assam, Kumar Sanjay Krishna, on Tuesday.

Maj Gen Bhuyan had an interaction on various issues with chief secretary Krishna.

“The general officer emphasised on the immense potential of NCC cadets in nation-building, community development and other government developmental programmes,” Guwahati-based defence PRO P Khongsai informed.

“He emphasised his desire to contribute handsomely towards developmental programmes of the Assam government and other charter of duties of the National Cadet Corps,” Khongsaid further said in a statement.

Assam-born Major General Bhuyan assumed the charge as the ADG of the NCC Directorate of Northeast Region in Shillong in the first week of August this year.

Bhuyan, an alumnus of Sainik School Goalpara in Assam and National Defence Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla, was commissioned in the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army in December 1983.

Major General Bhuyan was conferred Sena Medal, for his exceptional devotion to duty and courage.

He has extensive operational experience in various capacities in different parts of the country.

Bhuyan was one of the Army officers who have pioneered service in Siachen Glacier.
