Congress workers led by AICC secretary and former Jorhat MLA Rana Goswami staged a demonstration at the Jorhat Engineering College Road in protest against the deplorable condition of the road.

Slamming the government for not paying attention towards the potholed  road, Goswami said that it was dangerous for thousands of people residing at Garmur area and adjoining villages to ply to and fro to the town as accidents may occur

Goswami further pointed out that important institutions like Jorhat Engineering College, All India Radio Centre, Garmur Police Outpost, a large number of Government offices belonging to PWD, Fishery, State tax, APDCL sub-station and lineman training centre, Garmur Cremation Ground, etc. were along this road.

Stating that the road was properly constructed in 2013 under his initiative during his second tenure as a legislator, the AICC Secretary demanded that the government should pay attention towards the road and undertake reconstruction work.

It may be mentioned here that Rajya Sabha MP and former Jorhat Lok Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa uses the same road to go to his residence at Garmur Duliagaon.
