For the first time, a pre-paid taxi service was flagged off by Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha at Dibrugarh Airport on Tuesday for the convenience of air passengers landing at the airport.

The first-of-its-kind Dibrugarh Airport Pre-Paid Taxi Service is a joint initiative of the Dibrugarh district administration, Dibrugarh district transport department and Dibrugarh Airport Taxi Owners’ Association.

The pre-paid taxi service will be available from its designated booth at the airport premises and the service will connect the airport to a total of 135 destinations in Assam and neighbouring states of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, deputy commissioner Jha termed the new Pre-Paid Taxi Service as a significant move for making the life of air passengers travelling through Dibrugarh Airport comfortably.

Jha said, “Airports give the first impression of a city and almost every airport in our country has its own pre-paid taxi service. This pre-paid taxi service will help us to create a good impression of Dibrugarh town and also to maintain discipline in the airport.”

He thanked the district transport officer (DTO) and Dibrugarh Airport Taxi Owners’ Association for coming up with the pre-paid taxi service in a systematic manner.

A list of fares for the pre-paid taxi service from Dibrugarh Airport to various locations was also released in the function on Tuesday.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the superintendent of police, Prateek Thube, additional deputy commissioner Ranjit Konwar, DTO Bubul Gogoi, MVI Dhananjoy Saikia, Dibrugarh Airport director S K Garg, CISF deputy commandant Kumar Abhisekh and representatives of Dibrugarh Airport Taxi Owners’ Association.
