Manipur recorded its single-day tally of 239 new COVID19 cases on Tuesday, taking the state’s tally to 8,210.

The new cases include 224 from the general population and 15 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), said official sources.

The positive cases were confirmed at various testing facilities in the state, the source said.

The infected patients have been detected in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Ukhrul, Kakching, Tamenglong, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, the COVID19 Common Control Room, Imphal said in a press release on Tuesday.

All the patients from the general population are locals without any significant travel history.

They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities, the release said.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, a 69-year-old man from Imphal West expired at RIMS, the release said.

The cumulative number of deaths is 47.

The state reported its first death due to COVID19 on July 29.

On the other hand, 78 persons were discharged from five COVID care facilities after they were found COVID19 free during RT-PCR test in the past 24 hours, the release said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 8,210 while the cumulative number of recovered cases is 6,418, it added.

The number of active cases is 1,745.

The recovery rate is 78.17 percent, it further added.
