The BSF troops under Guwahati Frontier have nabbed 3 Indian cattle smugglers from the bordering area of Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district.

The BSF launched the operations in the intervening night of September 14-15.

The Border Security Force (BSF) also rescued 107 cattle heads from the bordering areas of Assam’s Dhubri, South Salmara Mankachar districts and Coochbehar district in West Bengal during various operations.

“Acting on a tip-off, on the intervening night of Sept 14-15, troops of BSF BOP NDA of 41 Bn BSF under Guwahati Frontier carried out a special operation in the general area of Nepuralga village under Sukhchar PS in South Salamara Mankachar (Assam) and apprehended 3 Indian cattle smugglers along with cattle heads,” the BSF said.

The cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

The apprehended cattle smugglers have been identified as Rafiqul Islam (21 years), so of Ahitula Shekh; Amildul Sheikh (32 years), son of Sajjan Sheikh and Shafikul Islam (22 years), son of Baktur Islam, all are residents of Berabanga village under Sukhchar police station in South Salmara Mankachar district.

Apprehended cattle smugglers along with cattle heads have been handed over to the Sukhchar police station for further legal action.

“Besides, the vigilant BSF troops also rescued 107 cattle heads during various operations from the bordering areas of Dhubri, South Salmara Mankachar districts in Assam and Coochbehar district in West Bengal while the same were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh,” the PRO of BSF Guwahati Frontier informed.

“BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes and illegal infiltration and are making all endeavours to contain such trans-border crimes,” the PRO said.
