Eight more positive patients have succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam on Sunday, taking the state’s death toll to 242.

The news has been confirmed by Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Sunday.

The health minister informed that the COVID19 victims are from Kamrup Rural, Dibrugarh, Karimganj, Nalbari, Baksa, and Hojai districts.

The COVID19 victims have been identified as 63-year-old Arun Thakuria and 56-year-old Om Prakash Sharma from Kamrup Rural; 48-year-old Durga Bahadur Sonar and 85-year-old Sunil Kr Fogla from Dibrugarh, and 74-year-old Ranjit Kr Dutta from Karimganj.

The other deceased have been identified as 53-year-old Prafulla Deka from Nalbari; 48-year-old Malai Basumatary from Baksa, and 65-year-old Khagen Pandit from Hojai district.

Assam has so far registered a total of 89,468 COVID19 positive cases.

A total of 67,641 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various hospitals or Covid Care Centres across Assam after their recovery.

With the demise of the 8 more positive cases, Assam currently has 21,582 active patients while 3 positive cases migrated from the state.
