Covid-19 related fatalities continued to rise in Assam with six more people succumbing to the viral infection on Friday, pushing the toll in the state to 227.
The overall COVID-19 tally mounted to 87,908 as 1,856 fresh cases were added in the last 24 hours.
Assam Health and Family Welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a tweet that six people died of the virus.
Most of the deceased had comorbidities and they were in
the age group ranging between 43 and 57 years. Minister Sarma said the fresh cases were detected after
examination of 36,180 samples.
While there were 24,558 active cases, as many as 63,120 patients recovered and were discharged till date.
The recovery rate was 5.12 percent, he said.
