With the detection of 118 new cases, the total number of COVID19 positive cases in Manipur increased to 4,687 on Monday.

The total positive cases include 1,216 central armed police force (CAPF) personnel.

Manipur currently has a total of 1,936 active COVID19 cases, health officials said on Monday.

In a press release issued in the evening on Monday, the COVID19 Common Control Room, Imphal said, “In the past 24 hours, 94 (53 male, 41 female) persons from the general population and 24 from the CAPF were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases.”

The positive cases are from VRDLs (viral research and diagnostic laboratory) of JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences), Raj Medicity, Babina Diagnostics, Imphal West RAT, Shija Hospitals, district hospitals of Noney, Churachandpur, Thoubal, and Tamenglong.

“They are from the districts of Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal West, Imphal East, Noney and Tamenglong,” the release said.

“All the cases of the general population are locals without any significant travel history,” it added.

They are being shifted to Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

“Today, a male aged 48 yrs from Imphal East (district) expired at RIMS(Regional Institute of Medical Sciences) due to COVID 19 and other co-morbid health conditions,” it said.

“The cumulative number of deaths is 17,” it said.

In the past 24 hours, 102 persons were discharged from CAPF, RIMS, Covid care centres of Lamboikhongnangkhong, Kasom and Senapati after finding COVID19 free on the RT PCR test, it said.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 4,687 including 1216 CAPF personnel while the cumulative number of discharged cases is 2,734.

The number of active cases is 1,936 including 961 CAPF personnel, it said.

The recovery rate is 58.33 per cent.

As of Monday, a total of 3,32,554 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 1,15,876 individuals were tested for COVID 19 at state’s testing facilities, said official sources.
