At least 33 people, including 29 security personnel in Mizoram have been diagnosed with novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 537, government sources said.

28 cases were reported from Aizawl district, two  from Champhai district and one each from Lunglei, Kolasib and Saitual districts, the sources said.

Among the new cases include a nurse, who was taking care of Covid-19 patients at Zoram Medical College (ZMC), it said.

Meanwhile two females from Serschhip and Lawngtlai districts have recovered and were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

There are 249 active patients, which is 46.36 per cent of the total 537 cases while 288 people have already recovered.

The recovery rate is measured at 53.63 per cent and there is one migrated case.

No fatality has been reported till date.

According to health department, the infection rate is measured at 2.42 per cent.

It said that a total of 22,175 samples have been tested till Wednesday.

Of the total 537 cases, 469 were confirmed at ZMC, 46 at Lunglei civil hospital, one at Guwahati Medical College and 21 were diagnosed with Covid-19 through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), the department said.

Aizawl district has reported the highest cases at 327, followed by Lunglei district in the southern part of the state at 93.

Siaha, Mamit and Khawzawl districts are Covid-19 free as of now.
