One of the security guards of the Leader of the Opposition in Assam Legislative Assembly, Debabrata Saikia, has tested positive for COVID19.
The news has been confirmed by Saikia, who is also the leader of Assam Congress Legislature Party (ACLP), on his Twitter handle at 12.11 am on Friday.
Sharing a video clip, Assam Congress leader Saikia said before leaving Guwahati to their house at Nazira in Sivasagar district, he along with his wife, security guards and other personal staff did their COVID19 tests.
“On 27th July along with me n (and) my wife, my security staff, personal staff did essential tests 4 #Covid in Ghy,” Saikia tweeted.
He said the test reports came out on Thursday and according to the test results, one of his security guards has tested positive for COVID19.
Saikia, who represents Nazira Assembly constituency, said he has intimated the Sivasagar district administration regarding the detection of the positive result and the security guard has now been taken for treatment.
The State Congress leader informed that he is currently in self-quarantine as per the protocol and will remain in quarantine till August 2.
He has also requested all others to maintain the same.
