Arunachal Pradesh education minister Taba Tedir on Wednesday said a third language would be soon introduced in all the government middle schools so as to preserve the indigenous dialects of the state.

Tedir made the announcement while addressing the inaugural session of “Cross Platform Dialogues: A national webinar series across eight disciplines” organized by the Rajiv Gandhi University’s (RGU) Institute of Distance Education (IDE) in collaboration with other eight major departments of the university.

More than 700 participants from across the nation took part in the inaugural session of the webinar.

Introduction of third language is the only way to preserve the ethnicity of this diverse state, which in turn will contribute to the development of the nation, Tedir said.

RGU vice chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha, IDE director Prof Ashan Riddi also spoke.

The weeklong webinar would witness sessions on English, education, history, Hindi, political science, sociology and tribal studies.
