Tripura on Saturday recorded the highest single-day spike of 171 COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 2,669 people.
Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in a tweet on the state’s latest COVID19 status said a total of 4,184 samples were tested for COVID19 on Saturday, out of which 171 were found positive.
Out of the 171 cases, 2 were air passengers, 8 came in contact with positive cases, 4 were in containment zone and 146 were detected positive in Antigen test.
Out of the 146 persons, who were found positive for COVID19, 82 are BSF personnel while 1 has travel history.
Of the infected patients, only 10 patients have COVID19 symptoms,

Of the BSF personnel, 40 were from 133 Bn BSF, 40 others were from 145 Bn BSF, 1 is from 64 Bn BSF while 1 was found positive from 130 Bn BSF.
According to the district-wise statistics, 85 positive cases are from Dhalai district, 34 are from Sepahijala district, 17 from Gomoti district, 12 are from West Tripura district, 7 are from South Tripura district, 7 are from North Tripura district, 5 are from Unokoti dDistrict and 4 positive cases are from Khowai district,
Meanwhile, two more COVID19 positive patients died of infection in Tripura, confirmed health secretary SK Rakesh.
Chief minister Deb also tweeted: “Unfortunately 2 COVID-19 patients died today. Among them one was patient of throat cancer & another person was patient of hypertension.”
With the two more deaths, a total of five people have died of COVID19 in Tripura.
Both of the patients, who died of COVID19 on Saturday, were women.
