Nagaland on Monday recorded 71 new Covid-19 positive cases, marking the highest single-day rise in the state.

“As on Monday, the total number of positive cases in the state stands at 845,” principal secretary (home) Abhijit Sinha said in his routine briefing.

He said all the positive persons are being treated at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 care centres while active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spread of the virus.

Out of the 845 positive cases, 505 are active cases and 340 patients have recovered. As per the severity of symptoms, 490 active cases are asymptomatic while 15 active cases are mild, Sinha said.

He said till Monday, 16,656 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and the results of 16,214 samples have been received.

Out of the 16,656 samples, 12,338 samples have been sent for testing at the BSL-3 lab at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima and BSL-2 lab at Christina Institute of Health Sciences and Research in Dimapur. Altogether 698 samples tested in the two labs in the state tested positive, he said.

Sinha added that of the 10,257 samples sent for testing on Truenat, 9,619 samples tested negative and 305 samples tested positive, which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR.

He said 3330 persons are presently under quarantine facility in the state.
