On the day when the COVID19 tally in Assam stands at 14,032, a total of 421 other patients, who were earlier infected by the virus, were discharged from various hospitals across Assam.

The patients have been discharged after they tested negative for COVID19.

Sharing the good news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on the state’s latest COVID19 update said:  Discharge Alert. 421 patients discharged today in Assam. As the gap between total cases & discharged patients narrows, our team feels motivated.”

Health minister Sarma informed that with the release of the 421 patients, the number of total discharged patients in Assam has increased to 9,147.

The state currently has 4,855 active cases while 3 cases have migrated from the state.

On Thursday, a total of 5 persons have died of COVID19 infections in Assam, taking the state’s overall death toll to 27.

India has registered a single-day surge of 24,879 COVID19 cases on Thursday, taking the caseload to 7,67,296.

The death toll in the country climbed to 21,129 with 487 new fatalities.

During the last 24 hours, a total of 19,547 patients have been cured, taking the cumulative figure of recoveries among COVID19 patients to 4,76,377 as of Thursday.
