Amid Covid19 pandemic, there is good news for Bollywood — actors Alia Bhatt and Hrithik Roshan have featured in the new list of invitees to the Oscar Academy.

The official Twitter handle of the Academy on Wednesday shared the list of the invitees with a caption — “Say hello to our brand new class of Academy members.”

Alia Bhatt got the invitation for her performances in the films Gully Boy, which was India’s official entry for the 2020 Oscars and Raazi.

And Hrithik Roshan was acknowledged for his two films — Super 30 and Jodhaa Akbar.

In addition to Alia and Hrithik, six other celebrities from India featured in the new list of invitees of the Oscars Academy.

Two documentary filmmakers—Nishtha Jain and Amit Madheshiya, designer Neeta Lulla are in the list.

The Academy acknowledged Neeta Lulla’s works in Jodhaa Akbar and Devdas.

Casting director Nandini Shrikent, and visual effects supervisors Vishal Anand and Sandeep Kamal have also received invitations.

The new membership goals aim to boost diversity among the Oscars nominees.

The Academy has now surpassed its membership goals, with 45 percent of this year’s intake women, and 36 percent of people are being represented by minorities.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended invitations to 819 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures.

The list of invitees also includes The Farewell actress Awkwafina, who was snubbed at the Oscars this year, Eva Longoria, Joker star Zazie Beetz and to-be Bond girl Ana de Armas.

Disney child star Zendaya (for Spider-Man: Far from Home) and Constance Wu, best-known for her performances in Hustlers and Crazy Rich Asians also received invitations this year.
