Assam registered 140 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.

Notably, among these 122 are from Guwahati.

Informing this state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his official Twitter handle appealed to all to strictly follow lockdown guidelines.

He, however, asked one and all not to panic.

Sarma tweeted:

‘140 new #COVID19+ cases detected. I must mention that 122 out of these are from Guwahati City and it is my humble plea to all to strictly follow lockdown guidelines to be able to flatten the curve. No need to panic, however.’

With these new 140 cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the State has gone up to 8547.

However, there are only 2885 active cases in the State at present.

Notably, 5647 persons have already recovered from the lethal disease and were discharged from hospitals across the State.

The State has so far witnessed 12 COVID-19 related deaths.
