One more person, engaged in the armed force, tested positive for COVID19 in Meghalaya on Tuesday, taking the state’s overall tally to 53.
Confirming the news, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma in a tweet on Tuesday said the armed force jawan travelled from Bihar to Tura, the district headquarters of West Garo Hills.
“One more armed personnel who travelled from Bihar to Tura has tested positive for COVID19,” chief minister Sangma tweeted.
With the new case, the total number of active COVID19 cases in Meghalaya stands at 10.
The deadly disease claimed the life of the state’s first positive case.
“Total positive cases 53. Total active cases 10,” chief minister Sangma said.

Earlier on the day, a person, who came from Guwahati, tested positive for COVID 19 in Khliehriat.
Meanwhile, contact tracing of 3 Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, who tested positive for COVID19 is going on.
The director of Meghalaya health services, Dr Aman War on Monday said contact tracing from the side of the BSF continued as well as from the side of the surveillance team of the state health department.
Dr War informed that the BSF troopers were “asymptomatic” and they were admitted to the isolation ward of the Composite BSF Hospital in Shillong.
A BSF trooper, who returned to the state from Bihar on June 23, tested positive on June 26,
On June 28, two BSF troopers tested positive for COVID19.
On June 20, an army man, who returned to the Assam Regimental Centre Headquarters in Shillong from Guwahati recently, also tested positive for COVID19.
