The railway passengers have expressed a sigh of relief as the IRCTC started Tatkal ticket booking for all the special trains.

Central Railways PRO Shivaji Sutar said the Indian Railways has opened the Tatkal ticket booking service for all the special trains, it is currently operating.

The passengers, who can book their Tatkal tickets from Monday, will be able to travel in these special trains, which will start journeys from Tuesday.

“Tatkal Booking will commence from 29/06/2020 in all Special Trains (starting with 0 numbers) for journey commencing from 30/06/2020 onwards,” Central Railways PRO Shivaji Sutar tweeted.

According to reports, the train passengers, who are willing to travel with Tatkal tickets, will have to book their tickets after 10 am one day before the journey for the AC class and after 11 am for the sleeper class.

Compared to the normal tickets, the price of the Tatkal tickets is costlier.

The passengers can book their Tatkal tickets both through the IRCTC website and app.

The Indian Railways cancelled passengers train services till June 30 as part of the government effort to prevent spreading of COVID19 pandemic.

In another notification, the Indian Railways cancelled all regular trains scheduled between July 1 and August 12.

However, the railway authorities said Shramik Special trains and Special Rajdhani Express trains will continue to operate to ferry stranded people.

Indian Railways is currently operating 230 special trains across the country.

The Indian Railways, in an earlier announcement, extended advance reservation period to 120 days from 30 days, giving passengers more time to plan journeys.

A Railway Ministry spokesperson said the reservation rules for the 30 Special Rajdhani and 200 Special mail and express trains had been modified.

The spokesperson said it was decided to increase the advance reservation period from 30 days to 120 days.
