Home isolation guidelines to be implemented strictly

The union health ministry has requested the states to implement the home isolation guidelines strictly for effectively curbing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

The ministry on May 10 had issued revised guidelines regarding home isolation and the guidelines continue to be effective till date, a statement said.

According to the guidelines, very mild and pre-symptomatic COVID-19 patients can opt for home isolation, however, the patient needs to have a separate room with an attached.

The patient also needs to have an adult attendant /caregiver and the patient will have to agree to monitor his health and regularly inform the health status to the District Surveillance Officer for follow up.

“An important clause of the Revised Guidelines is that the treating doctor is satisfied with the patient opting for home isolation based on medical assessment and assessment of his/her residential accommodation,” a health ministry statement said.

“In addition, the patient shall fill in an undertaking on self-isolation and shall follow home quarantine guidelines,” the statement added.
