Students in Assam will now be able to take Bihu as an elective subject in their Higher Secondary curriculum from the next academic session.
The decision to include Bihu as an elective subject in HS was recently taken by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
AHSEC has taken the decision with the aim to spread awareness among the students about the rich heritage and culture of the State.
The syllabus and lessons have been prepared by the likes of Jaykanta Gandhia, Khagen Gogoi and Ismail Hossain.
Moreover, AHSEC has decided to introduce 27 vocational subjects from the next academic session as well.
