Mizoram police have recently booked six youths for supplying drugs and liquor to people in quarantine centres.

As per reports, a 22-year-old youth who is currently under home quarantine in Aizawl gave his ATM card to his three friends to bring liquor for him.

After withdrawing cash using his ATM card, the trio brought locally-made liquor and secretly gave it to the quarantined person.

Although the swab samples of the trio tested negative, the Mizoram police registered cases against them and their quarantined friend for their negligent and unlawful behaviour.

The accused persons are currently under quarantine facilities and have not yet been arrested.

However, the police said that stern legal actions would be taken against them soon.

In another incident, a 33 –year-old man who is currently quarantined in Khatla East community quarantine centre tried to secretly procure some drugs from another person.

Although the drug supplier had tested negative,  he had since been put under quarantine facility and had not been arrested but stern action would also be taken against him soon.

Mizoram had so far registered 104 positive COVID-19 cases.

At present, there are 103 active cases in the State.
