Saleha Begum, a 50-year-old woman in Hojai district of Assam, was set on fire by a land mafia group over a land dispute.

The videos of this bone-chilling went viral on social media after a group of locals captured the entire incident on their mobile phones.

The victim was later rescued by police and admitted to a hospital.

The incident was reported on Thursday from Dakshin Samarali area of the district under Murajhar police station.

Speaking to the police Begum later said, “The land belongs to us, which the mafia group tried to capture forcibly.”

“They tried to kill me by setting me on fire. However, I managed to escape somehow,” she added.

In the video that went viral, it could be clearly seen that the group was trying to plough the land by using a tractor, which was objected by Begum and her family.

Meanwhile, the police have registered two cases at Murajhar police station in connection with the incident.
