Though the cyclone Amphan had no significant impact on Meghalaya, recent rainfall has created the first wave of flood in Garo Hills.
Incessant rain has caused all the water bodies in the region to swell posing serious threat to the people in the remote areas of Garo Hills of the State.
People have been evacuated to higher places.
All departments in Raksamgre and Tikrikila areas have been advised to assist sub-divisional officers and block development officers.
Meanwhile, a general alert has been sounded in entire Garo Hills.
