A documentary on the life of the boxing champion Laishram Sarita Devi was listed among the award-winning films at the 13th Manipur State Film Awards (MSFA), 2020.

The MSFA 2020 presented 57 awards altogether, out of which 33 were for feature films, 20 for non-feature films and 3 for best writing on Manipuri Cinema and 1 for Lifetime Achievement Award.

Manipur Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar announced the list of awardees during a press meet in Imphal on Wednesday.

The 13th Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Ksh Rashi Devi of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai in Manipur’s Imphal West district for her outstanding and continuous contribution to the growth and development of Manipuri Cinema.

The Best Feature Film was awarded to ‘Pandam Amada’, produced by Konsam Saroja and directed by Oinam Gautam.’

The best non-feature film was awarded to ‘Highways of Life’, directed by Maibam Amarjeet Singh, Films Division, Government of India production.

Best critic award was conferred on Aken Sijagurumayum, Best Child Artist award was given to S Saolin.

Best Actor Male and Female was awarded to Amar Mayanglambam for his role in ‘Eechadi Manini’ and Bala Tensubam for her role in ‘Chaphu’, respectively.

Rina Ningthoujam was awarded Special Jury Award for her role in ‘Eechadi Manini’ while Best Cinematography award went to Irom Maipak for the film ‘Nongphadok Lakpa Atithi’

Kenedy Khuman got Best Male Playback Singer award for the song ‘Nakenthagisu Yeningtha’ in the film ‘Pandam Amada and Rosy Heisnam bagged Best Female Playback Singer  for the song ‘Nungshikhreda’ in the film ‘Bangladeshki Sana Tampha’

The award-winning documentary film on boxer Sarita called “I Rise” is a 51 minutes film.

“It took us around five years to shoot the film,” said director Borun Thokchom.
