The seven BSF men, who tested positive for COVID19 on Saturday in Tripura, were earlier tested negative for the virus.
This was revealed by Tripura law and education minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday.
A total of 11 people tested positive for COVID19 on Saturday, out of whom 7 persons were Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.
A total of 625 samples were tested for COVID19 in GBP hospital and among those 11 persons found positive for the virus.

While 7 people are from the 86 Battalion of the BSF, 4 persons are civilians from Churaibari Gate including 2 drivers from other states.
In the evening on Saturday, law and education minister Nath while briefing on the COVID19 situation in Tripura said: “The 7 BSF personnel, who tested positive for COVID19 today, were tested earlier.”
“At that time, their samples were found negative. As symptoms were noticed in some of the BSF personnel on May 15, their samples were collected.”
“Samples of altogether 10 BSF personnel, belonging to 86 battalion, were tested again, out of which 7 jawans tested positive,” he added.
He said: “Among the four civilians, who tested COVID19 positive, two were truck drivers.”
“The truck drivers were from West Bengal and the other two civilians were returning from Assam,” said the minister.
The infected civilians include one 24-year-old youth, who worked in private sector at Guwahati and a 20-year-old girl, who is studying at Tezpur in Assam.
All the 11 infected people have been shifted to Bhagat Singh Yuba Awas COVID Health Centre on Saturday for treatment.
The minister also said 22 people were discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
“As of now, altogether 42 people from Tripura have recovered from the disease and currently, 101 people are undergoing treatment in the state,” he added.
The total number of COVID19 positive cases registered in Tripura so far is 166.
