Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday visited Covid-19 hospitals in Zunheboto and Phek to review the preparedness and measures taken against the coronavirus there.
Speaking at a meeting with government officers and NGOs at Zunheboto deputy commissioner’s residence, Rio thanked God for keeping Nagaland safe from coronavirus.
“We are a testament of His grace and protection,” he said.
Rio further said that even developed countries like the United States and European countries are suffering at the hands of this pandemic.
He said the people are not just dying but the virus is affecting the economies and other critical aspects as well.
Rio appreciated everyone for coming forward and working together, especially the civil societies, administration, police, medical department and the Opposition members, in the fight against coronavirus.
“By the grace of God, we are a little more prepared today then we were yesterday,” he said.
Addressing another meeting in Phek deputy commissioner’s conference hall, Rio called upon everyone to give their best in the fight against COVID-19.
He said, “Nagaland is in a green zone till now, but we need to be alert.”
He reiterated his appeal to the people to stay at home and follow safety measures.
Rio thanked church leaders for taking equal responsibility in the fight against the virus.
