A Slow loris was rescued in Chapanala Jiajuri Tea Estate‘s Number 1 Line along Nagaon–Karbi Anglong border.
The endangered primate was rescued by the villagers after they noticed that a pack of dogs was barking at it.
The primate was rescued by Binod Dulu Bora- a wildlife enthusiast of Chapanala area.
“When I found the primate, it has injury marks on his head and legs and hence I took it to my home and treated it for two days,” Bora informed.
After the Slow loris showed signs of recovery, Bora along with forest officials release it in Suwang Reserve Forest in Karbi Anglong.
Speaking to Northeast Now Bora said that the primate might have come out from the jungle in search of food and shelter.
He alleged that the natural habitat of the primate has been threatened due to rampant deforestation and illegal felling of trees.
