United States (US) on Saturday reported over 50000 deaths due to COVID-19, according to the John Hopkins University tally.

With a total of 51, 017 deaths, the North American country has now by far reported the highest number of COVID-19 fatalities in the world.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has now reached 890524 in the US which is also highest case count in the world.

The second and third countries that have been worsely affected by the deadly virus are Spain and Italy.

According to the John Hopkins University tally, the total number of coronavirus cases in Spain and Italy are 219764 and 192994 respectively so far.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in these two countries is 22524 and 25969 respectively.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 24506 on Saturday.

The death toll due to coronavirus in the country is 775 so far and the number of active cases is 18668.

5062 people suffering from coronavirus have either been cured or discharged in the country so far.

The worst affected states in India are Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in these three states is 6817, 2815 and 2514 respectively.
