Gandhi-Nehru dynasty scion and the newly elected president of All India Congress Committee (AICC), Rahul Gandhi will address an election rally at Ram Krishna Mission ground in Kailasahar on February 16 next, the last day of campaign for ensuing Assembly elections in Tripura.

Interacting with the media at Kailasahar on Wednesday, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Birajit Sinha, said Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a party election rally at Kailasahar on Friday to be attended by thousands of party supporters at the RKM ground.

He also said star campaigners of Congress including Prithiraj Chowhan, ex-Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Irman Kidui are camping in poll-bound Tripura from Wednesday.

Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and South Indian film actress turned politician, Nagma Morarji, who is also the general secretary of All India Mahila Congress, have already arrived in the State.

Nagma participated in a road show under 16 Bishalgarh Assembly constituency on Wednesday and addressed a public meeting at Sonamura town in support of party candidate for 22-Sonamura seat.

On Wednesday evening, Nagma also addressed public meetings at Milan Sangha, Ramthakur Sangha and Border Golchakkar areas of Agartala.

On Thursday, Nagma is participating in another road show under 4-Barjala Assembly constituency.

Party in-charge of Tripura elections, Durgesh Patil was also present during the media interaction.

Tripura goes to polls on February 18. Counting of votes will be held on March 3 next along with the other two north-eastern states of Meghalaya and Nagaland where voting is scheduled to be held on February 27 next.
