Meghalaya Government had clamped curfew for 48 hours in the capital city of Shillong after the State registered the first COVID-19 positive case.
However, certain essential services are exempted from the purview of the curfew.

These include security forces police and armed forces.
Medical teams on duty are also exempted from the purview of the curfew.

Fire and emergency service, MeECL and power are also exempted.
The Food and Civil Supplies Department including Food Corporation of India (FCI) are also exempted from the purview of the curfew.
The Shhillong Municipal Board, Telecom, Communication and IT services are also exempted.

The government officials, print and electronic media are also exempted from the purview of the curfew order.
Earlier on Monday, Meghalaya chief secretary M S Rao in a press release informed that a 48-hour curfew has been promulgated from 6 am of Tuesday in Shillong and nearby areas.
The chief secretary requested the common people to cooperate and restrain from coming out of houses to enable health officials to take appropriate remedial measures.

All the patients who had visited Bethany Hospital on or after March 22 were requested to register themselves by calling 108.
The COVID-19 positive patient is a 69-year-old doctor of Bethany Hospital in Shillong.
