The COVID-19 positive patient from Spanish Garden in Guwahati deserves accolades as he himself has come forward to alert people about his status through social media.

This is indeed encouraging at a time when there are allegations that several people who have attended the religious congregation of Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin on Delhi have gone into hiding at their native places across Assam.

The resident of Spanish Garden, the posh apartment in Guwahati has mentioned about the fact that he has tested COVID-19 positive through WhatsApp on Friday night.

He also asked all those who have come in contact with him during the last 14 days to go for quarantine.

He is Manish Tibrewal, aged around 45 years.

He had arrived from the national capital on March 1 last.

However, he did not develop any symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days.

It is learnt that he had attended a Holi function in Guwahati on March 10 last.

After returning from Delhi, he complained about having problems in breathing and had even consulted doctors at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

He was detected COVID-19 positive after 25 days of medication and tests.

It is learnt that he was suffering from asthma.

After remaining in home quarantine, Manish is presently undergoing treatment at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati.

His family members are also quarantined at the Sarusajai Stadium.

Meanwhile, authorities have sealed the Spanish Garden apartment.

Notably, this is the first case in Assam which is not related to Nizamuddin event.

Meanwhile, one more COVID-19 positive case from Lakhimpur district has been confirmed.

This has taken the total number of positive cases in Assam to 25.

This patient is also related to Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi.
