Citizens throng ration shops to get free rice maintaining social distancing norms in Udalguri

The distribution of free rice at the state-run ration shops in Udalguri district has witnessed serpentine queues with people maintaining  ‘social distancing norms.

Every household was distributed 5 kilograms each and everyone queued up to get their share on Friday morning.

The ration was distributed from morning 10 am to 1 pm.

“The citizens maintained the social distancing norms of the lockdown and we have also ensured that people maintained it otherwise it doubles the duty of the police and district administration,” said Jitu Pathak, a PDS shop owner.

The grocery shops are adhering to the norms of social distancing by making white circles in a gap of 1metre as per WHO guidelines.
